Noise Impact Report Q&A

Q: What are the potential noise issues identified by the report?
A: Obviously, noise will come from the rally cars as they pass, but also from other sources such as service park activity, waste collection, public address announcements and spectator traffic.

Q: How noisy will it be?
A: The level of noise will vary with the activity and some may be what is usually expected when people gather for a big event. Rally-specific noise such as the cars passing by on stages or visiting the service parks will occur for only relatively short periods at a time.

Q: What are you going to do to control noise?
A: The report recommends a number of practical measures, from fitting silencers or acoustic barriers to shutting down idle equipment and limiting the operating hours of garbage services.

Q: How will people know when and where to expect noise?
A: Rally Australia will widely publicise all event activities through the media and, where appropriate, by direct means.

Q: What can I do about a noise problem?
A: Rally Australia will appoint a person especially to handle residents’ noise problems and to monitor adherence to our own guidelines. Residents will be offered advice on how to manage noise. A Noise Complaint Record will be maintained.
